Meet the Board . . .

A talented and dedicated group of musicians and music-lovers, with the invaluable support of one music-loving institution – Luther Memorial Church – now constitute the PIP’s Board of Directors. Walt Gaber, Luther’s Cantor (minister of music) and director of its Bach Cantata Vespers series, is president. Brian Hannah, host of Classics on WQLN, who also plays trumpet in the Philharmonic and elsewhere, is vice-president, in charge of managing the logistics of engaging musicians and negotiating with potential performance opportunities. Anne Bardol, tax accountant, treasurer of several area non-profit organizations and long-time supporter of the arts, is treasurer. Carol Carlson, priest at North East’s Holy Cross Episcopal Church, is secretary and manages internal and external communications.

Howard Lyon, former concertmaster of the ECO, violinist in the Phil and leader of the Lake Erie String Quartet, is the musician-member. And Elva Newcomer-Kushner, medical insurance specialist, professional violist and board member of the Greenville Philharmonic, is our fund-raising specialist.

We are most fortunate to have the service of these public-spirited people, as well as that of Jonathan Moser as conductor of the PIP. The Board has worked hard to do the paperwork – and leg work – of getting this orchestra started. Now it’s up to the music-loving community in Erie to let us know how it can be sustained.
